Painting holds a distinctly liberating place in the lives of CPArts' survivor artists as an important way to release feelings that may otherwise not find an outlet. Setting goals to complete a body of work provides a generative structure, toward a safe way for survivors to communicate the sensitivity of their lived experiences.
Since 2015 Crossing Point Arts has brought the focus to Survivor Art in our Art Exhibitions and Sales - open to the public. These are significant experiences for participants as their artwork is acknowledged (and purchased!) and has helped them to identify with the experience of creativity as a source of thriving.
